Queen Chrysalis at Trotcon by vervv Queen Chrysalis at Trotcon by vervv
The cosplay is so close to being finished! I got the wig on Friday and didn't have enough time to properly attach the horn and crown to the wig...It was painful. Too many headbands and then headaches >.<

Anyways, I feel pretty happy with how this turned out :D This photo was taken by Stephen Doucet! THANK YOU! :D :D

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I would suggest googling "human queen chrysalis" and looking at all the designs the talented mlp artists have come up with. Collect some ideas, things you like about this design that design etc. and form yourself a basis for a costume before you start buying stuff. Having a design laid out will make your cosplay building experience so much better! :)

The fangs can be found at vampfangs.com. I made ears from sewing leather onto a piece of craft foam! The wig was "grey blue" from ebay, so best of luck finding one and be careful about ciel wigs! Are you testing the costume or actually going to a con tomorrow? :)

I actually bought it on Ebay for about $20, but I don't remember the seller's name D: I think the color was described as "blue grey." :P

Thanks, this was back at Trotcon this year. The horn and crown were still attached to headbands back then...*shudder* I made sure that changed quickly.

Oh man, I keep coming back to this image to study the elements that you've used; it's an excellent costume, to be sure.

It's inspirational too, since I'm now more excited than ever to begin work on my ~King Chrysalis costume.
Which is bad, because I'm already knee deep with another costume.
If anything, I want my horn for it early. XD

I look forward to more images. XD

Awww, thank you!! :D I hope you costume goes over well!! If you want, I could tell you how I made my horn so that you can learn from my mistakes/success :D I think this is my last big costume for a while. I'm just gonna keep myself busy with altering and improving the few I have already ^_^ More images of both Chrysalis and Future Twilight are on the way!

That would be super excellent if you shared your experiences from the horn/ears.

I originally thought of using some stiff but fine foam from the craft store as a base.
But I would like to compare and contrast different strategies to then best suit the situation. XD

I used oven baked clay, which is heavy but looks really, really nice. I also glued it to two button snaps and snapped it through the wig. Warning, one snap alone is not stable enough D:

Ah, Oven baked clay, that's something I've had a little bit of experience with (making claws).

Because of the weight, it's rather restrictive in size, I'd assume.
I'll consider it though.

Thanks a ton.
